SOLAR ENGINEER – JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Engineering & Technical Support
- Provide technical and engineering support for Solar PV projects from development and bidding through design, construction and commissioning.
- Develop and review preliminary technical concepts, plant layouts, electrical configurations and key technical parameters of Solar PV projects.
- Perform technical and commercial analysis of different engineering solutions and identify opportunities for project optimization.
- Review technical documentation, drawings, specifications and calculations prepared by engineering consultants, EPC contractors and equipment suppliers.
- Prepare and review Single Line Diagrams (SLD), electrical layouts, equipment specifications and Bills of Quantities (BoQ).
- Prepare and review technical specifications, design documentation, technical descriptions and other engineering documents required for project development, permitting, EPC and construction.
Energy Yield & Solar Resource Assessment
- Perform or review solar resource and energy yield assessments using tools such as PVsyst.
- Analyze meteorological data, irradiation data and production assumptions.
- Assess expected gross and net energy generation and identify key factors affecting project performance.
- Review technical assumptions related to module selection, inverter configuration, DC/AC ratio, losses, degradation and system availability.
Electrical Engineering & Grid Connection
- Support the development of electrical design, including LV/MV systems, transformers, inverter configuration, protection and grid connection arrangements.
- Support the Grid Connection process, including preparation, review and submission of required technical documentation.
- Review grid connection requirements and ensure compliance of proposed technical solutions with applicable grid codes and technical regulations.
- Coordinate with grid operators, consultants and other stakeholders on technical connection requirements.
Engineering Coordination
- Coordinate with CAD/design engineers and external engineering consultants to ensure that project-specific technical requirements and site constraints are properly reflected in the design.
- Review and comment on engineering deliverables and monitor the progress of design activities.
- Participate in technical discussions with EPC contractors, equipment manufacturers, suppliers and consultants.
- Evaluate alternative technical solutions considering technical performance, cost, constructability and project schedule.
Site & Construction Support
- Participate in technical site surveys and assess existing site conditions, grid infrastructure and other project constraints.
- Provide engineering support during construction and commissioning, including clarification of technical issues and review of proposed design changes.
- Support FAT, SAT, commissioning and performance testing activities where required.
- Participate in technical inspections and resolution of engineering issues identified during project implementation.
Procurement & Suppliers
- Provide technical input to procurement activities, including preparation and review of technical specifications and evaluation criteria.
- Participate in technical qualification and evaluation of equipment suppliers.
- Review technical offers and compare equipment and technical solutions from different suppliers.
- Communicate with manufacturers and suppliers regarding technical specifications, compatibility and alternative solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrotechnical Engineering, Power Engineering, Renewable Energy or a related technical field.
Experience
- 3+ years of professional experience in engineering, preferably in renewable energy or electrical power projects.
- Practical experience with Solar PV projects is required.
- Experience in Solar PV design, engineering, construction or commissioning.
- Experience working with EPC contractors, engineering consultants and equipment suppliers.
- Experience with grid connection and electrical design of renewable energy projects will be an advantage.
Technical Knowledge
- Good understanding of Solar PV system design and key components, including PV modules, inverters, DC/AC systems, MV systems, transformers and SCADA.
- Good understanding of electrical engineering principles and power systems.
- Knowledge of applicable IEC standards, local technical regulations and grid connection requirements.
- Experience with PVsyst and/or similar energy yield simulation tools.
- Good working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
- Understanding of electrical drawings, SLDs, technical specifications and BoQs.
- Knowledge of BESS and/or hybrid renewable energy systems will be an advantage.
Advantageous Experience
- Experience with Huawei, Sungrow, SMA, LONGi, JinkoSolar, Trina Solar or similar equipment.
- Experience with PVsyst modelling and energy yield assessment.
- Experience with Grid Connection Studies.
- Experience with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6 or similar project management tools.
- Knowledge of FIDIC/EPC contracts.
- Experience with projects financed by international financial institutions.
- Experience with BESS or hybrid Solar PV + BESS projects.
Languages
- Uzbek and Russian — fluent.
- English — good working proficiency.
